Melbourne. Sports mad, fantastic food & bar culture, great beaches and yes there is enough good weather to enjoy them! And fabulously sexy people everywhere!

isnt all of australia sports mad? Brisbane also has the night life but maybe not as cosmopolitan as Melbourne. We do have easy access to Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast of course and the perfect weather to enjoy it all, some would say all year round.

If that piece of "Real Estate" ever comes up for grabs, please let me know, I'll be at the auction, but I know it will be very crowded in the "bidding ring". You're a Gem. Cheers P.L.

To live? I'd be lucky to last a minute let alone a lifetime. p.s. I've lived in lots of Australia cities and towns, Melbourne is easily the best.

Sunshine Coast is the place. Great weather, beaches, surf etc. Short drive to Brissie. Has a Airport. And you have a choice, the green pastures of the Hinterland or next to the beach.

We considered this question about 10 years ago. We have spent a fair amount of time the other Australian capitals and two city's stood out, Melbourne and Brisbane. Brisbane's weather put it ahead. In terms of food, arts and culture Brisbane has become more like Melbourne. We still like to visit other cities, but not enough to live there.

On your lifestyle choices...if you enjoy sun, surf and sand then come to Queensland...even in winter it's rarely below 25 degrees...summer only a few days over 35 degrees...my pick would be Noosa.it has everything, surf, national forests, small but cosmopolitan town..xxFreya

Perth. I have been to Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane, loved them all, (they all have great qualities), but Perth with its beautiful beaches, laid back lifestyle and the lovely Swan Valley, oh, not to mention the view from Kings Park......I adore living here.

Personally, I love Sydney for it's diversity. I have travelled throughout the world and I can still not find a better city. Climate, natural environment, physical beauty, international status, food, entertainment, cultural diversity, best economy.......I could g on. The only downside is cost of living, but if you have the means, then I wouldn't live anywhere else

What is this about Melbourne having beaches? Since when.

In Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Perth (also stayed in Adelaide and Darwin for work) and my heart is split evenly between Perth and Melbourne. However as Perth is slowly catching up with the rest of Australia and becoming more cosmopolitan, I'm leaning more towards Perth. Our weather is beautiful, the city and the way it winds along the river is gorgeous, the coastline and beaches are to die for, Margaret River and the Swan Valley are driving distance away... Plus as you East Coast women are all figuring out, we have the best men 😝

For now where ever I lay my hat is if great, but for retirement I think a lovely solid stone house among the Karri forests not too far from the ocean and sheltered in a valley down along the south west coast of WA. Now where did I put my hat??

.....especially anywhere in the beautiful City Of Moonee Valley. St Kilda and St Kilda beach are fun and very popular but when people comment on Melbourne's beaches they may also be referring to both Mornington and Bellarine Peninsulas which are both lovely and not far from Melb and where many Melburnians have their beach holiday houses or onsite caravans.

when we were deciding on a place to live, we chose Brisbane as it seemed to have the best balance...coming in after that would be Melbourne (it's just a little too cold for us Caribbean folk )
