  I have done this so that I don't accidentally bother them some time later when I have forgotten. It's more a courtesy thing by me.

  More than likely they do not like being turned down and or rejected, and this may bruise their fragile egos further, to such a point that them then blocking you is a way for them to have a feeling of power over you, their final say. It happens often to us. In other instances (again has happened many times to us) we receive a string of unsolicited messages from a male. He showers us with compliments along the lines that Mrs is so pretty & slim, such a great figure, such sexy legs etc etc (all the things that he thinks you want to hear). Then when you politely reply that you are not interested, he sends you a barrage of insults in which you are no longer sexy, but fat , overweight and ugly and that he never found you attractive in the first place. He then blocks you. In a more recent scenario we again receive an unsolicited message from a male. We reply that we are not interested. He does not respond despite reading our message. A week later sends another message with photos of a penis doing unmentionable things to a woman, accompanied by a message that he wants to do this to me, the MRS. He then blocks us. Fortunately admin are now banning people from messaging further.

  If someone isn’t interested in me, or I’m not interested in someone, I block them so they longer appear in my discover tab. It makes it a lot easier to use this app. Don’t take it too personally.

  I block people immediately when zero interest is ascertained. What's the problem with that?

  I have created extra sub folder's . One is called no thanks I move message there. I have a another folder called no deal usually for messages that aren't very tastful. But sometimes it just easier to block though over the years people on my blocked list have created new accounts and message again 🙄. I have the memory of an elephant so shut it down and move on

  It isn't just when you or they block. Some people are just blocking because they can and think it is a fucking fun game
