Because it's subjective. The same as members putting "Attractive" or "Very Attractive".... they may think so, doesn't mean everyone does.... subjective.

You are so right. I can't put athlete in my profile, I was gaspping air at my daughter's netball training, when they decided to play girls v parents. Never again....

All I want to say is they need a “thin but squishy” option for those of us who aren’t overweight or athletic 😂

@fatfunfeisty I disagree. Athletic is a type. It’s a description. It’s not subjective at all. In fact it’s a classification in truth. It’s defined. Attraction is subjective yes. That part I agree with.

"Average" as my body description. I do consider myself athletic though. I gym every day, I enter 5K fun runs, I'm fitter and healthier than I've ever been.BUT...I don't look athletic...and seeing as online you can only go on visual (photos), I don't want anyone to accuse me of lying/embellishing the truth, or cat-fishing anyone 😏

Athletic means to me is someone who has physical skills or capabilities, as strength, agility, or stamina. It does not necessarily mean athletic body. Their minds could be athletic. I have heard some shocking stories where a people have showed up to a met and the person they were meeting, was extremely opposite of their body pics. Infact, quite a few I know (including myself) for first met will sit back and watch from a distance and if that person is not the description etc, just leave and dont say a thing. There is no obligation to give someone attention if they are misleading. Yet, these people are normally the first to complain about bring ghosted. I know, as I have seen them quite often complain here in the forums about being ghosted. Ms Foxy

Athletic bodies come in many shapes and sizes. A 100m sprinter like Usain Bolt looks very different to a ultra skinny marathon runner and very different again to a huge front line rugby/gridiron player. Each has their unique skillsets and all have different body shapes. For us, I do strength training to focus on muscle development while Ginger really just walks heaps. We both eat very healthy, mostly paleo diets with a few guilty pleasures to enjoy life - wine and cocktails to name a few. Body shape is a balance. We've figured out what works for us. Fred

I just come back from completing the Kokoda Track and I am definitely NOT athletic, in fitness or physique. Likewise you can be quite fit and overweight, and thin and completely unfit. Athletic to me means you are an athlete, or active sports orientated. That is all. Athletes come in many shapes and sizes. So it's not really a body type. I feel many people write this as their description because they see most other profiles writing it as what they are looking for. I just write average in looks and body type. If anyone thinks better of that in me then I'm flattered.

Totally agree with you. We describe ourselves as athletic and train accordingly. No one has ever disputed that but we have seen people up to size 22 claiming an athletic body type. Athletic isn't subjective and you need to also be fit to be athletic. Sumo wrestlers are the conundrum 😀 OP your profile pic looks thin and I wouldn't even complain if YOU used athletic.

I'm sure many RHPers would enjoy hearing about it. I'd love to THINK I'd have the grit and determination to do it but I don't know........

So therefore relates to your shape. Correct BMI ( I know.....) muscular definition over your body. To have muscular definition you must partake in physical exercise to a nominal amount. Six packs are not included as that is elite training regime. Can't see it being subjective at all except by those that aren't......

Have muscle definition and low body fat. The amounts vary depending on the person and their sport.

CC80 "We are all attracted to different shapes, and god knows I’m happy any female would pay me attention! It’s more about why people aren’t just honest??? By aren’t we all just honest about our body type???? " There is no honesty standard. Simply, If someone says "I'm or I feel attractive" it doesn't mean they aren't and they are lying about it. You just don't see them that way and definitely you don't know how they feel about themselves. Maybe their self esteem is "way" too high, but still, it's our opinion. If someone says "I don't feel / I don't look good" does it mean they are lying too? Or their self esteem is too low? It just a point of view. Yes, I've seen many profiles here with "skinny" but the profile pics were close to size 20+. But was she attractive to me? Yes. Smile, eyes... Sexually? No. Only my opinion.

Perhaps people just identify themselves as athletic body shape, even if the rest of the world probably doesn't, that's their right in my opinion. Or they just aspire to it. It's a self assessment with a fairly flexible definition from a very limited set of options. You want them to put Average? By definition, Average is A little extra padding in this country. There's a gap there that a lot of people on here fall into and, in the process of selling themselves, they round up. I don't blame them at all, screw being Average. Anyone who bases meet up decisions off the body type descriptor is a literal moron. It's a mild inconvenience when search filtering, mostly created by RHP shortage of options and lack of definitions. But a basic understanding of human nature will tell you this problem will always exist to some extent anyway. A much greater issue would be fake photos, which most serious women don't really do so that's basically just the ol' fake profile problem really. And, the big one; misleading camera angles. Anyone who plays this game long enough knows how to read between the lines on camera angles. Then once you get bored of out-competing the other muggles in your weight class comes the next level challenge of finding the diamonds in the rough who are underselling themselves with their pics. So, if this is actually a serious complaint and not just a forum discussion instigator (fair play) then I would suggest instead of complaining about how the game is played, get better at playing it.

How do you get better at playing it? Half the people think our photos are fake or enhanced until they meet us. Starting to get sick of the game. It can just be to difficult online.

Well, I have zero experience with couples online, either being one or chasing one so, for once, I'm not claiming any expertise. I'm not really seeing what specifically is your issue though, it feels like a lament over the brutal nature of this online experience, which I emphasise with you about. With respect to the OP and then my tangent from it. Firstly, I would say M is pretty safely Athletic and F is Slim or Athletic if she wants. I think you know that and my point was it doesn't matter anyway because pics are what count and learning to read between the lines is the most efficient way to meet what you're expecting to meet. So reading between the lines on your pics; you're one of the diamonds in the rough that undersell, you show everything (except face which I don't read much into as people hide that for many reasons) and use normal real life poses. Neither of you look particularly comfortable posing, it's not something you've put much effort practicing and coming into a meet with you I'd be quietly confident that you would be even better looking in real life than your pics. Frankly, I think F looks smoking hot. I don't go for dudes so it's hard to comment on M, I think his pics are probably your weak point and you guys could benefit from putting some effort into getting some better pics of him. But, if you're getting meets then they're wins in the online game, the RL game starts after that. I don't want to take this too far off topic, if you want advice on improving your RHP experience start a thread with some detail regarding your goals/expectations and how they are not correlating with reality. I'd be interested and would contribute if I could, I'm sure there's people with more relevant experience floating about too. But really, if someone says to you they thought those pics of yours were enhanced then it's them who could be better at this game, not you. All the best, I know this can be tough at times, respect for putting yourselves out there.

DP and XH Agreed with both it's sad that people might think that average photos on here are enhanced. Pick up any celebrity or TV magazine if you really want to see enhanced photos. And by enhancements I am referring to photoshopping. I would say a professional glamour photo shoot is also enhanced as it doesn't reflect what a person looks like on any normal day. XH photos look like everyday shots to me. As DP correctly stated, average or the statistical "mean" body in this country is actually a tad overweight and those trying to cry fake on other people's photos are probably saying more about their own insecurities than the photos they refer to. A quick reading of your profile can often refer to the physical activity and sports interests that can result in such actual athletic type bodies but said critics probably wouldn't bother to read that far.

Deepestpurple Thanks for the discussion. That’s what it’s all about. But let’s be clear. It wasn’t a complaint as stated by you, it was an observation and an invitation to debate. Athletic as I’ve said is defined. Atttactiveness isn’t. You can’t compare. Can’t force anyone to be honest. It’s so hard to find good people to play with and my point was honesty makes it easier and also increases the integrity of the site. There will always be those who try to play the system. That’s life. Mr/Mrs average. 😁

I think both Athletic and Attractive are defined, it's just that they're both vague definitions. Athletic is less subjective then Attractive for sure but, at the same time, what is considered attractive is reasonably consistent across everyone and people that are unconventional in their tastes tend to be aware of that. It's not on the same level of say; "what is a good song?". There is still an element of subjectivity in the definition of Athletic. If we were to put them both on a rainbow spectrum of Red = Completely Objective and Violet = Completely Subjective. I'd rank Athletic at Yellow and Attractive at Blue. I just don't think it's that big of a distinction. They're both mid range colours. "What is a good song?" would be Indigo/Violet. I think we can all agree "George Ezra - Shotgun" is annoying af so it can't be straight Violet. Especially when the elephant in the room is pics. We have no need to rely on someone else's somewhat subject self-evaluation when we can make our own assessments using photographs.

Wishful thinking Quite a lot of us have a false perception of ourselves because who we are and who we want to be are very different things and this reflects on what people choose to show on their profiles too. I don’t consider myself athletic and I believe I have an average physique but lot of people that contact us have “athletic” showing on their profiles, and when you look, you realize they are not athletic or fit or sporty. Which I have no issues with, I met people of average looks who were amazing sex partners but it seems people don’t really understand what athletic is. Yes, a marathon runner and sprinter and body builder will all have different bodies but what they all have in common is that they excel at either maintaining crazy amount of endurance or stamina or strength and their physique will reflect this. Average Joe who does office work and trains once a week will not be “athletic”, you just won’t have muscle definition, it’s as simple as that.
