  Many things could be contributing to this. I have found that older guys dont tend to worry too much about the whole orgasm. Their penis can go up and down all night and then after many hours they finally allow themselves to orgasm. Sometimes this can go on for a few days rather than the night. That is fine as there are times when I dont want to orgasm either but sex is about more than the finale! Certain medications can actually upset the whole process of orgasms as well. Blood pressure, (strangely) anti-depresants. Many doctors prescribe low strength anti depressants for prematutre ejaculation and this can have the same effect as what you are describing. If this gentleman has been on his own for a while, he is used to masturbating and this can also cause this to happen.   it can come down to blood flow, paranoid fears of insecurities etc - how long has it been since he was with someone? There's a reason there's a pill for older men to "help" the flow...
