Last year was the first year she had none of the grandies around and she sat and bawled. This year she has a great-grand daughter to dress for and is looking for a new suit. The old one after all these years is a bit threadbare. I spent last Xmas at a laundromat by myself....this year I have a home and a houseful. Will miss Mum and the family and 2 of my children and believe it or not my Ex! But I'll be with people I love and value in my new life in Brisbane. The tree is up, lights all hung and working, garden manicured and gifts wrapped (well nearly ☺️). Just got to nail Xmas day menu, dessert is being taken care of by two beautiful women in my life. The kids will be making festive sweets in the kitchen next week, my youngest arrives to live with me Friday and her only wish was doing our rumballs and xmas nicies like every other year. It'll be snowing coconut in my kitchen and fruit, lollies, chocolate and nuts will be everywhere ..... No licking fingers/spoons/bowls in my kitchen until we're done! I love a houseful on Xmas day, this year we even have a pool! 🎉yaaay Tis the season to be jolly, fa la la la laaaaaaa la la la laaaaaaaaa 🎅🎄🎁

Was kinda fun, people stopped into the store next door and popped their heads in for a chat with the crazy lady doing laundry. Even had some of my old traincrew and shunt colleagues pop in to say Merry Xmas you Crazy Bitch!! Lol

I have an amazing family and we have an amazing xmas every year. I get a bit sick of doing the same thing every year as a couple of us like to do the traditional lunch, I always get stuck with doing the vegetables *rolls eyes* how boring! I tried to swap a sister for desserts last year but she said she would just do plain boring vegetables, not like the vegetables I do, so I said I would still do veges then, grrr. The ring ins often change if someone who has a friend who nothing better to do, or the inlaws of whoever has a partner at the time might come along. It is going to be odd this year as we are going to the sister's inlaws for xmas. A few of my siblings are having lunch with their partners families so we are branching out. I still am getting stuck with the fucking vegetables though!! Jut when I thought I was getting away from it. Dammit!

My favourite Xmas was in the USA too.It was when I was living in the Santa Cruz Mountains managing a Buddhist Centre. We advertised in the local paper for anyone without family or friends to have Xmas lunch with to join usAbout twenty people turned up including a family of five..It was amazing and I think in the true spirit of Xmas.even though we were in a Buddhist centre...some things transcend all religions xxFreya

I'm heading off to spend some time with family, 12 of us for lunch on Christmas Day and 20+ for lunch on Boxing Day. To have the time to catch up with them after an extremely hectic year will be wonderful as my visits to them have been few and far between. For us it is not really about the presents, but being in each other's presence. Spending time together, having a laugh or three, eating and drinking too much, playing silly games and someone always falls asleep and snores loudly straight after lunch What do I miss at Christmas... my parents. Both of them died within a month after Christmas, 15 years apart. With both of them we had no doubt it would be their last Christmas so there was a touch of sadness at both events. But I know they would expect us to carry on with Christmas traditions and have a drink or two for both of them, and so we do. Much love to all; I hope you all have a lovely day and enjoy the company of those who are special to you. xx

all the fabulous forumites and friends a wonderful Christmas. Give a special hug to those you know are doing it tough at this time of year. My favourite Christmas's growing up were those spent with several families in a camping ground 1hr north of Perth. We would cook jumbo cray legs in a huge pot and all the other campers would look in and join us bringing a plate to share and the drinks flowed freely. Corks popping all day. All the adults used to be in a food/drink coma by late afternoon while the kids/teens ran amuk and often spent the rest of the day swimming and as the years went by and the kids got older swimming, surfing and trailbike riding. Nothing beats Christmas in Oz. Cheers and hugsLG

I can't say there is any best Christmas although "orphan" Christmas gatherings have been the most fun and laid back ones.

To host an orphan Christmas one year. Not being the most sociable person around though, I'm not sure where I'd find the guests to invite. Any tips? And Happy Festive Season all! Hope it's wonderful and Santa/your loved ones spoil you. If you're lonely, especially tomorrow, I invite you to say so on this thread (hope you don't mind the hijack Freya) so that we can all shower you with attention and the best wishes of the season. I promise to pop back here tomorrow to see if anyone has put the call out x Meanwhile, I'll be carving ham of the bone and 'baking' mini chicken roasts and onion in a frypan. Add some veggies and packet gravy, followed by berries with custard and cream. Camping Christmas lunch at it's best :D - Posted from rhpmobile

I don't think I can remember my most special Christmas, as it's a very different holiday where I'm from. Last year was a great one though. I had to work, and my three colleagues and I had all chipped in for pies, chocolates and juices for the 30 odd people we looked after that day in our out-patient department. We even had treats for the six dogs that came with their owners. One patient took a pic of the four of us on my phone, it's one of my favourites. Looking forward to working again tomorrow.

Besides having my 1st Christmas as a mother. The most amazing Christmas for me was when my niece was born. It was the day I seen my brother suddenly have that sparkle in his eyes again. It also gave me more of a reason to love Christmas again. Merry Christmas everyone. Stay safe & enjoy. xxx

The Girls and I are about to wrap the last of the gifts, move the tree to access the dungeon and bring out the remaining horde. Right now I'd just like to send some love and best wishes to all my RHP friends and family. To the forum members I've interacted with and yet to have the privilege of meeting and to all the Lurkers out there. Merry 🎄 Christmas, hold your loved ones close and I do sincerely wish you all a beautiful, peaceful and prosperous time. Indy still On Safari 💝 xx
