the earliest least memorable was my 16th when I was away at school and rang home only to be told by both parents that they were too busy to talk. sorry you've had a crap day.

Happy Birthday! I'm sorry it was a poo poo day for you. I hope you filled up the bath with bubbles and relaxed with a vino. Give your feet a nice rub and eat a whole cheesecake. I don't really celebrate my birthday. (except for last year ) I've never been with anyone who remembers these kinds of things. I get lovely messages from my friends but I buy my own presents. This year I'll be happy just getting hugs and kisses from my little people.

On Monday: Seeing a neurologist after some scary symptoms. His face was grave when I told him. On Tuesday: Emergency MRI. More concerned faces. A FWB came over though, who made me feel much better. On Wednesday: My birthday. Woop-de-doo. On Thursday: The first news that wasn't good. On Friday: The diagnoses (plural). Bad, but curable. A great drunken night though, with great people and plenty of debauchery. On Saturday: The Meet and Greet, where I was spoiled and had "Happy Birthday: sung to me. And more adventures in a fancy hotel. . So it all worked out. (Mostly). . A belated happy birthday, MsElle. I hope the rest of your week made up for it! xx

I usually don't tell people it is my birthday because I don't like the fuss. My last birthday only confirmed for me the that this is a good policy.... that way you are not disappointed when they forget.

I had a terrible fight with the guy I was seeing. I was spending the day with my grandchildren who I adore and I couldn't interact with them in my usual childish way. Plus it was the start of 10 days on the Island and I normally went dancing but I was so damned depressed I ended up home by about 9pm. Happy Birthday wishes to you MsElle albeit belayed ones and I too hope the rest of your week has been more fun.Cheers

Was invited to a friends house for morning tea on my birthday. When I arrived they were having a major donnybrook and after 5 minutes it escalated to shouting and throwing things. I left. She emailed that I was a fair weather friend for not sticking round. I laid out a few home truths and left it at that. So, morning tea...........not a hope, dinner we had planned that night.........not a hope, and a concert which I had paid for my ticket but she had possession of..........not a hope. Good birthday............not a hope lol. Still friends.......not a hope. Just as well I am resilient.

You have created a self fulfilling prophesy. If you keep your birthday a bloody big secret, how is anybody going to "remember"... lol. I have an old school friend who's birthday is the same day as my mother's. Every year I get it wrong, and I'm talking since 1975... every year since 1975 I phone or text or email or FB exact one month early... and every year she reminds me that I have got it wrong.... it's the same day as my mother's birthday, not the month before... I have another more recently acquired friend who has a birthday on the same day as my father. Same problem, but I kep thinking it is a month later. If you have a bad birthday, I think it is your own fault! Last year on my birthday, I planned my own day. That relieved everyone from having to remember it. Sometimes you have to lend people a hand... who can think of practical things with all that testosterone whizzing around? The same thing applies with introductions to people you know... but not that well... I always shake their hand and say my name so they do not have to fumble around trying to remember it and feeling all uncomfortable. HugsGazpacho

Sorry u are having such a lousy day :( What happened? Mine was when I was 23. I was quite serious with a girl but we were having issues. We ended up fighting at my birthday party, she left. When I got home she was packed and gone. To this day I don't celebrate my birthday any more. Not that I am hung up on her still but I was for a while and just got in the habit of not celebrating. I'm thinking maybe my 40th though.

Although I've had some pretty average birthdays, I don't have any real horror stories. But happy belated birthday MsElle, and maybe you can go with the thought that you've got the crap out of the way now, and the rest of the year will be freaking awesome

OOOOOOh I can relate. My 40th in Bali! You'd think staying in a Villa in Syminyak, sorrounded by a group of long time friends, one would not feel so alone and home sick. But I did... Foxy Mes - sorry to hear of such bad news..I wish you well. xx

we all have our birthdays within a few weeks of each other.We just call up and say, thank fuck we are still sucking in air and having a hoot while we can. Its not about the getting old, shit we all hate that its about the fact that while we are here, and well and I get what Meander said. Recently I spent two long hours with my head in a MRI as they tried to find a brain tumour. The good thing is I had no brain for said tumour to develop in As you grow old and the wheels start to fall of, celebrate your birthday. as to soon that celebration will be over. for those that like to give gifts, for bithdays please send me a bunnings voucher as dacougarbitch is working on my garden and I am killing plants as fast as she is replacing them.

Sorry to hear you had a crappy Birthday. My last Birthday was the worst one ever ... then I made some changes in my life (got rid of the person who was making my life miserable) ... now things are going great for me. Hope it is all up hill for you from now on, things always get better! Hugs

I'm sorry to hear you aren't having a great birthday. I doubt my horrible birthday story will cheer you up, but once someone tried to kill themselves in front of me on my birthday. A stranger. On public transport. I had to negotiate with him to stop hurting himself (blood everywhere), obtain his agreement that I could call triple 000 for help, get the transport evacuated (people ran like it was a movie) and I was left with one man who was saying he was staying to be there for me and that I was doing a great job but I was left alone to talk to the man who was suicidal and then the police showed up and he turned angry on me. That was when I broke down and started crying. Then the police took him and interviewed me. The cop said "oh, shit. It's your birthday?" After asking my date of birth. That day was truly awful. I cried all day in meetings, got drunk at lunch, cried all the way home, felt traumatized for weeks afterwards. Six years later and I still feel scarred from up the experience, but I'd do it all again in a heartbeat if it meant I'd help someone who needed help. I hope whatever has happened to make your birthday not so good isn't too bad and here are some big virtual hugs and kisses for you xoxoxoxo

Two years ago my marriage broke down the day before my birthday. It would be accurate to say that it was one of the worst days of my life and certainly the worst birthday ever. Last year I made sure I had a fantastic day and the silver lining is that it will be very difficult for me to ever have a worse birthday. Things can only get better! Lol! I had crap birthdays......the same amount of years I was married.....go figure!!Last year It was my first birthday since separating and I was treated to a night in town, made to feel special.....and best of all......Morning sex on my birthday!! Sorry MsElle!! Probably not what you wanted to hear but it made me think back and out of 19 birthdays that's the one I remember (and smile ) about

Thank you. It was just my natural instinct that kicked in to be honest. I would never want anyone to be alone, sad and reaching out and be ignored. It's just not in my nature. I'd help anyone I could. It was the least I could do for him. It was just very,very sad. Still is :(

for most part mine have been pretty good, as I see my birthday my own special day to do (or not do) anything I choose.The older I get the better they are.......for a while there I decided to spend my birthday week interstate with fun friends and/or family...Best one was my 55th - after being in a really bad place for my 50th, got rid of the people and stuff that put me in that bad place and went all out for my 55th - hired a black hummer, had 14 close friends, drank Moet and I took them out to beautiful Italian restaurant.......and shouted myself $400 French bubbles.......ticked a few bucket list items that night...Hope next one/s is/are better for you and remember - be nice to yourself esp on your special day!!!!

You're too kind, I just did what needed to be done, thank you though. I wouldn't change it for the world, I am who I am and I like me being the type of woman who will help people. I didn't feel strong at the time, I went into some pilot mode and then afterwards I felt really weak and like going to bed for a week or two to cry, but it happened and I hope he's ok and I am ok. You are entitled to complain, no matter what! Don't feel you can't. We ALL have a story to tell and yours is just as unique and special as anyone else's :-) Happy birthday xoxoxoxo

I grew up in a dysfunctional family where a good birthday was when my parents were to drunk to belt me. When I went to school my friends would ask me what presents I got. I was too ashamed to tell them I got nothing and would usually say that my parents just gave me money. Now I never celebrate my birthday. My present is that I survived.

Hey Happy Belated Birthday ms Elle and yes you are beautiful and yes i wear glasses and have recently been tested so my eyes are perfect. My worst birthday was in the eighties and i was living in sydney and my girlfriend at the time was in Adelaide. I was going to Adelaide to meet with her for my birthday and my parents rocked up in Sydney from Perth as a suprise for my birthday. I told my girlfriend and invited her to fly to sydney (i pay) but her answer was if i dont see you in Adelaide for your birthday dont bother ever seeing me again. I still miss her very much. What could a young guy do when his parents flew all the way from Perth to suprise me for my birthday. Anyway sounds like you have a lot of wishes from here and happy to chat to you if you want xxx
