Scammers

June 14 2014

If you have a profile (at least as a male) you will no doubt have had various female profiles trying to scam you in some way. The most common one I have come across is women "models" needing permission from their managers to meet, which requires registering on some site which I presume is a means to gathering credit card or name info etc. I understand that.Other 'female profiles' simply try to obtain an email address and then disappear into the ether. I am curious as to what they can gain from an email address especially as you can create them for free with absolutely no identity requirements? Does any one know?

Had not heard these before. I've heard of female profiles actually being male picture collectors, but the disappearing makes no sense unless they got caught or chickened out.

I've only been here a short time but with much assistance from some lovely people, I have learnt quickly... I have, however spent 8 years on the likes of RSVP, eHarmony etc and I've never been the least bit suspicious of anyone I've spoken to online (or been approached by), except for the obvious 'Foreign' girls who are FAR too beautiful and young to be genuinely interested in me. Obviously they are looking for citizenship and stick out like.... a sore thumb. As should be the case with everyone... I never give anything but and email (if asked), until I am VERY sure with whom I'm talking. An email address would allow an organization or individual to spam you with sales and promo material, but they're easily changed if this happens anyway. So, I'm with Meander... I don't see the point and I've not come across anything like that before.

I remember one male profile offering me the privilege of viewing videos of hisself online. Too funny, I'm not an idiot. . The email address? Maybe so they have a sure email address to hack into? Then they can send emails to all your friends, with viruses attached... I've had emails from friends accounts over time, especially where theirs is an old address and not being used anymore. . I'd like to hear more too.
